Supporting Fashion For Cause, by streetwear brand Yoroshiku
In response to COVID-19, Designer Yumi from Yoroshiku, explains how her design skills adapt to the environment around her, and how she can use her talent to drive change.
Right now we are all compelled to be mindful of the effect we cause to mother nature and each other. This has been the core ethos since Yoroshiku started focusing on sustainability with '4649 Upcycled' project; with the last collection focusing on upcycling pre-loved vintage kimono fabrics into modern attire, to be loved over and over again. The great response and feedback at the last LDC Spitalfields store for this collection further assured us to pursue this direction with the brand going forward in the ever-changing world.
With this core value in mind, and in response to the growing popularity of our Camouflage Face Mask over the last few weeks, we have released 4649 Upcycled: DIY Face Mask Kit. This DIY kit includes the reclaimed fabric and trimming from our London studio to give you what you need to create your own face mask.
We also give out Free Face Mask Pattern on our website for you to download - so you can upcycle your own fabric and trimmings laying around in your house.
Respecting others with social distancing can be done in style and hope this kit helps you to become more self-reliant (which is the lesson we are all learning right now all over the world), while having fun being creative.
Yoroshiku (reads: Yo ro shi ku) 4649 is a polite way to say “Nice to meet you” in Japanese. Yoroshiku 4649 is an independent brand based in London, making classic street wear with a hint of Japanese playfulness. Yoroshiku 4649 spreads love ethically by working with local manufacturers and creatives (photographer, musicians, magazines, event organisers etc) to support and be part of the community.
Looking for a little connection and community right now? Join Yumi + other craft-makers in a designer-led workshop to 'Create your own facemask' as a group across zoom.
