We’re rocking this season’s most versatile accessory, are you?

Blue skies are coming and LDC is getting you ready with the guide to the most versatile accessory of the season

Temperatures are rising, the days are getting longer, you’ve got a spring in your step and you can’t wait to finally be able to see your friends and family again after what feels like a lifetime! This of course calls for a mini wardrobe revamp, but where do you start? Here at LDC we’ve taken some time to dive into our range of sustainable accessories to find our most versatile for this time of year, and here is what we’ll be wearing this spring and summer.

THE SCARF

Much like the sunny days we’ve been longing for, our Love Silk Scarf from Manimekala gives us an optimistic pop of colour that is sure to brighten up anyone's wardrobe. Although this may be a bit of a daring colour for some, now is the perfect time to try something new. Manimekala scarves come in a range of colours and designs, and are all ethically handmade in the UK so it really is a win-win for all. These scarves are the ultimate accessory, with their bold designs that do a lot of the work for you, meaning that you won’t have to add much else to your outfit. We would pair one of these scarves with a simple white Tee from Llocas, a pair of our upcycled and recycled Mom jeans from Fanfare and our vegan sneakers from Trash Planet for that cool and casual look, that is also better for the Planet.

Some more of our favourite scarves this season come from Bentivoglio, these Red and Cream Squares are slightly more understated, meaning that you can have some fun styling them with pretty much anything as they compliment rather than compete for the spotlight. If you’re looking for something elegant this spring, pair our Embroidered Pencil Skirt from Joao Maraschin with a cream square scarf that you can tie in various ways to adorn one of your favourite handbags, or wrap around your head to nail that perfect parisian look. Alternatively, if you’re dressing for a hot summer's day, why not try something slightly different and rework this scarf so it fits snug against your ribcage, creating a retro '90s and early '00s take on a regular crop top. Complete this with some of our Fair Trade Chunky Rectangular Gold hoop Earrings from Amadeus for an ethical and stylish look.

If you're lucky enough to be going on holiday this year, then one staple accessory that you must not travel without are our Large Silk Scarves from Sarah and Sorrentino. These scarves come in a variety of colours and patterns that make for the perfect companion to any outfit and any body shape. They are large enough so that you can wrap them around your body as you emerge gracefully from the pool, but lightweight enough that you can easily fold them and pop them in your travel bag. With red and orange tones that take you back to the 70s, pair these scarves with our patterned swimsuits from Kandumathi and you’ll be turning heads this season; and as an additional bonus, 5% of all sales in the UK will go to The Wildlife Trust ‘Save bees and pollinators’ and 5% of all sales in Canada will go to David Suzuki’s Pollinators project. P.S. Keep an eye out for a new collection of Sarah and Sorrentino Scarves dropping soon!
