MEET OUR DESIGNERS: RIA, COCO VEVE

Meet designer Ria, the founder behind the beautiful womenswear brand CoCo VeVe which is making its LDC debut this November in our Ant-Black Friday concept store. Not only will Ria be sharing her affordable luxury collection if digitally printed pieces, but will also be hosting a Meet the Maker afternoon on 25th November (our last day!) so you can get a behind the scenes peek into the life of the designer and hear how she creates her amazing dresses and separates right here in the UK.

We sat down with Ria ahead of our November store launch to find out more about CoCo Veve, how she works and her advice to budding designers...

Tell us a little about your brand

My ambition was and is to create a timeless wardrobe for women. Affordable dresses and separates that can be styled in several different ways for all occasions. I create many of my own prints. They are digitally printed onto the fabrics for me by a London printer.

Each dress tells a story of its own.

I am passionate about creating beautiful clothing for women and it's important to me to source my fabrics locally when possible. I manufacture in the UK in house and work closely and direct with my manufacture at all stages of production.

The brand is named after my nieces Amelie CoCo and Verity (VeVe).

What advice would you give people who are thinking about starting their own business?

Love and be passionate about your chosen business. Be prepared to work long hours and all hours. Write yourself a list of achievable goals. For year 1 , 2 and 3 . It gives you targets to aim for and great to look back on and see what you have achieved.

How do you work?

I'm inspired by my surroundings, nature and years gone by. My favourite era is 1920's Gatsby style.I love art Nouveau design. Many of my prints begin as a photo I took on a walk or holiday.

If you weren't a designer, what would you be?

If I wasn't designing clothes I would be a Photographer or own a dog cafe. With the best coffee and delicious cake:)

Why have you chosen to partner with LDC?

They understand Independent labels, great to work with like minded creatives. Perfect platform to create greater brand awareness for CoCo VeVe.
