Lockdown Date Night: Getting Ready for Valentine's Day
By Phoebe J Carney, LDC Contributor
Just because we are stuck at home and our favourite bars, restaurants and hot spots have their doors firmly shut, it doesn’t mean we have to miss out on date night!
Finding things to be motivated by is becoming increasingly harder as lockdown drags on and rain ceaselessly hammers on our windows, so getting dressed in an outfit that makes you feel fabulous can make all the difference. Whether you’re treating yourself to a date night for one or lighting the candles with someone you love, take a little inspiration from some of our top styling pieces.
SMART CHIC
Combining office attire with party flair, the Lara Downtown Grey corset and matching pants create a subtle yet striking suit combo. Simplicity sometimes presents the classiest outcome and this monochromatic set does just that. The pinstripes add a little character and the cropped nature of the corset will make sure you definitely don’t feel as though you are at the office.
Wearing a statement piece of jewellery is the perfect accessory to a simple outfit and open shoulder tops. The V Necklace in 14k Gold by Stephanie Grace is our choice to keep things classy and draw attention to the open shoulders.
SOFT GRUNGE
Focusing more entirely on the party flair side of things, the galactic-style Ceza Skirt by Manimekala is fun and playful. Just because it’s winter it doesn’t mean the legs have to stay hidden!
To pair with this is Yoroshiku’s Upcycled Kimono Top, made from a choice of material including denim, cotton and glitter and adding some contrast to the tight skirt with its flowy sleeves. Adding the soft grunge to this outfit is the Heidi Noir Velours.
SLEEK LINES
Wine is often a staple on any date night and that is why we’ve gone for the Chiara Malaga Wine Skirt for this look. With a midi length it is soft, delicate and made of vegan leather, the deep rouge colour making it perfect for a lockdown Valentines number.
A key styling tip is to find your central piece and work around it, either with complimenting colours or contrasting shapes. As the skirt is the central piece of this outfit, the Chloe Button Bodysuit in black is all that’s needed to finish such a slick style, along with Lamperti Milano’s Diotima heels to accentuate all the fine lines.
COLOURFUL ELEGANCE
Comfort, confidence and colours are all key in finding a great outfit. We’ve chosen Gung Ho’s Action Dress in deep green and orange tones for our date night outfit number 4, with its fun patterns, flattering shape and gorgeous colours.
When you have such a statement central piece, simple accessories are all you need. We’d pair this dress with Stephanie Grace's Kite Chain Studs and the Venus from Ganor Dominic. C’est bon!
