ABOUT THE BRAND
Manimekala combines aesthetics and ethics, creating contemporary fashion with a social mission. Working in partnership with marginalised communities to tell the stories behind each design, Manimekala connects women across the world through the clothes they wear. Known for original hand-drawn prints and joyful, statement textiles, their designs are colourful and eclectic, and made between London and India, reflecting the founder's heritage. The brand takes a sustainable approach, refashioning their leftover materials into one-off Zero Waste designs.
THE DESIGNER
Manimekala Fuller has been making clothes for herself and others for as long as she can remember… far before she could actually sew. While studying on the University of Westminster's prestigious fashion design course, Mekala gained international experience in the industry, interning under designers Manish Arora and Roksanda Illinčić, amongst others. Inspired by her multicultural British-Indian heritage, her love for colour and pattern as a form of wearable expression led her to establish her namesake brand. Dynamic and experimental print designs are her signature, fusing luxury fabrics with traditional crafts and modern technologies.
