LDC's SS21 Highlights and How to Style Them
By Phoebe Carney
An LDC Guide on How to Style SS21 Highlight Pieces.
Just as we’re very much settled into the midst of winter, sprinkles of snow cover the ground and layers are all we can think about, we’ve decided it’s time to take a look back at some Spring/Summer 2021 collections and highlights. Reminiscing about that summer feeling will hopefully remind us of slightly better, non-lockdown times and get us excited about the spring to come. So here are a few of our top picks on how to style the year’s trends.
BOLD BLAZERS
A highlight that has been a staple trend throughout the year and will no doubt continue to be so, is sharp shouldered blazers, which featured heavily in Alexander McQueen and Balmain’s shows. With cutting edges and long necklines, their fierce suits create a simultaneously badass and elegant look. LDC’s own brand AGGI has a collection of suits and blazers to rival McQueen, and are available in various bold colours. To finish this look, we’d style them with the gold Afi Necklace by Opuline to accentuate the suits’ plunging collars.
PRONOUNCED PATTERNS
Miu Miu’s show, which attempted to combine the digital with the physical, was full of bold patterns, bright colours and striking combos. Our own Gung Ho’s jumpsuit collection delivers an outfit that is modest yet unique and comfortable yet effortlessly stylish. To pair with this we recommend the Alcibiades Black Booties and the Kylie Warm Black Coat – it is cold out there after all!
BAGGY ON BAGGY
Schiaparelli’s creative director Daniel Roseberry said that he wanted to create pieces that are wearable, essential, and timeless. His focus on wide leg pants and loose-fitting shirts are what we’re all about. Taking a more casual stance on this, we would style the Repurposed Denim Cargo Trousers by Asime with Fyodor Golan’s Flamingo White Cotton Shirt, which has oversized cuffs and an abundance of buttons. To top it all of we’re going with classic Nudo Gold Hoop Earrings.
LOCKDOWN LOOSE
Another creative director’s vision that rings true for us all is Dior’s: ‘our clothes have to reflect this new style of life’. The brand’s collection was therefore constructed around loose-fitting, soft and comfortable fabrics with a focus on patchwork prints and florals. To replicate this artistic slouch and couch wear we are pairing North London Construction’s flowy Fisherman Trousers with Hoh Pabissi’s Patchwork Bella Coat. Taking comfort to the next level it combines colour, patterns and most importantly, STYLE!
PUFFY AND POWERFUL
What the Cecilli Bahnson and Loewe collections have shown us is that puffed sleeves are powerful. This style might be taking things to a more extravagant level, and we are well aware that there aren’t many opportunities to show off our outfits at present, but if you can’t dress up for yourself then what’s the point?! Femponiq’s Flame Scarlett Puffed Sleeve Cropped Cotton top is everything you need to get into a sunnier mood. Tie the Blue Bandana Skinny Scarf by WRQ.E.D around your neck or in your hair and you’re set to be a leading lady!
