On the cards as a top trend for SS22, keep reading as we unpack anything and everything suits from tailored trousers and sleeveless shirts to oversized blazers, wide-legged trousers and so much more.
There is nothing more powerful than the perfect suit. An immaculately tailored trouser and a flawlessly cut jacket can be a fashion game-changer for both your wardrobe and your confidence. We know to some, suiting remains a run-of-the-mill two piece but, trust us, with our LDC designers and a little inspiration from the recent menswear shows the possibilities are endless. With suits historically being a man’s game, it seems only fitting to take a leaf out of the mens fashion week playbook. Kim Jones’ SS22 collection for Dior leaves no shortage of inspiration but a standout for us was the distinct use of striking monochromatic looks throughout the collection. An LDC sell-out this season, the Ramona Blazer by Aggi is our top pick for this trend. The oversized, double-breasted silhouette is perfectly complimented by the runway-esque colour that strikingly resembles Pantone’s Spring Summer green. Paired with the Billie Poison Green Shorts, this suit is the ultimate warm weather look. Wear the blazer open over the Kat Zara Mesh Bralette for a stylized finish sure to turn heads.
From the toned-down hues of the Fendi presentation to the evidently well-constructed silhouettes of Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton collection, the traditional art of tailoring is alive and well. For those of us who love to stay true to the classic formula of a suit, we love this Darin Hachem set. Elevated by the sleeveless detail and elongated lapels, this shirt has a fresh and stylish edge. Pair this piece with the matching wide-leg Tailored Trousers and the elegant Langse Heels by Lamperti Milano for an effortlessly luxe aesthetic that will have you feeling just the right amounts of feminine, confident and powerful.
Lockdown has undeniably evoked the sentimentality in all of us – gravitating towards everything with roots in the past; from binge-watching period pieces like Bridgerton and The Queens Gambit to indulging in fashion trends of 90s-inspired denim and Renaissance-reminiscent corsets. This look channels all the best of the 70s. Inspired by the retro aesthetic of the Jil Sander collection, we chose the Salar 3D Top from Graciela Huam for a stylised take on an old-school sweater vest. When paired with the ultra-high-rise Sofia Pants from Aggi and the Bella Gold Earrings from Amadeus, this ensemble comes together as a perfect balance of tailored and comfortable, old and new, effortless and put together.
The Courrèges collection lived up to all of our contemporary fashion fantasies – it was the ultimate blend of classic yet modern minimalism with a hint of understated futurism. Taking inspiration from the subtle juxtaposition of our fave looks, we paired this classic Livia Tang Double Breasted Wool Suit Jacket over the Aggi Joy Background Black Top. All the traditional construction elements of the suit jacket against the modern silhouette of the crop make for a perfectly balanced look. Style with the cropped Ponte Roma Culottes from Judy Wu for a curated aesthetic that will take you from day to night looking like you stepped straight off Nicolas di Felice’s runway.
