LDC x SLAs: How to Live A Sustainable Lifestyle, 22/04 @ 7pm GMT
Wednesday 22nd April // @ 7 - 8.30PM GMT
AVAILABLE DIGITALLY, ON DOWNLOAD + LIVESTREAM
This Earth Day, LDC and the SLAs have teamed up once again for another evening of sustainable discussion.
This time, coming to you in store and digitally, we will be discussing the ways in which we can lead a sustainable lifestyle. Considering all aspects of life and the small changes you can make to have less of an impact on the environment.
The setting is perfect for this discussion owing to it being Fashion Revolution Week too!
We will be looking at the way you live through nutrition, exercise and wardrobe curation/upcycling.
This will be a super immersive discussion, asking attendees to get up close, reflect and discover new ideas!
Led by Rachel Fortune - Founder of the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards
Rachel began her career at Nicole Farhi as Visual Merchandiser before working as an independent and in-house stylist.
Working in the fashion industry, Rachel became increasingly informed and concerned about the ethics and sustainability of the supply chain, as well as the perceived misconceptions around sustainably-made goods – a widely held believe that quality and aesthetics are somehow compromised for the sake of being ‘virtuous’.
Rachel set up the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards to address these concerns. Backed by some of the most formidable names in fashion and retail, including senior figures from Harvey Nichols, Anthropologie and TRAID, the programme has become the definitive award of its kind to verify and celebrate brands that hold both style and substance in equal measure. Its very existence is to champion daily change.
Through the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards, Rachel endeavours to give the sustainability movement a positive voice, as well as to catalyse change in consumer spending.
Sophie Rist- Agnes LDN
Sophie, is the founder of the sustainable lifestyle brand Agnes LDN. Before starting her own business, Sophie was working as a designer in the fashion industry. Over time she started feeling like her role didn’t match up to her personal morals so she decided to tackle the issue and started Agnes LDN in 2018.
Sophie created her label with the aim to educate and inspire people to put the planet first in their everyday actions. Sophie’s personal journey to living a more sustainable lifestyle helped build the initial product range, using up fabrics she had left from her Fashion degree. As a business supporting sustainability, she wanted to raise awareness of the impacts of mindless consumption, and empower her customers with the skills to create their own solutions. This led to the launch of Agnes LDN Upcycling Workshops, where Sophie teaches attendees valuable sewing skills and show how easily an item of clothing can be diverted from landfill.
Jennifer Medhurst - nutritionist
Jennifer is a nutritionist, speaker, writer and cook. After completing her Law degree 10 years ago Jennifer began a battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which ultimately led her to discovering a passion for nutrition. Having run a successful health food catering business for many years before deciding to retrain as a nutritionist, Jennifer has a keen grasp of how our food is produced, and avidly supports local and seasonal eating where possible. She develops recipes and has worked with a number of top health brands such as KX London, The Third Space, Sweaty Betty, Bamford, Lulu Lemon and Plenish Cleanse.
Posie Staveley- Posie Pilates
Posie is a qualified Body Control Pilates instructor. Having always been a fitness enthusiast, she began to study Pilates as a result of a skiing accident. Learning first-hand the overarching benefits to her physical and mental wellbeing, Posie, Sweaty Betty Ambassador and listed in ‘Tatler ‘Best Address Book‘, is a full-time instructor in London.
Posie’s classes are flowing, dynamic and energetic focusing on functional movements to create a strong, agile and pain free body. She is absolutely passionate about the benefits of Pilates giving the perfect balance of toning, core strength and flexibility as well as improving posture and co-ordination. Posie works on the principles of good alignment and breathing and will always endeavour to grow and challenge individuals at any level.
Posie teaches Group, Corporate and 1:1 classes all over London. Her practice is open to all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners.
This event will be fully available to stream online. We are wary of circumstances concerning the current situation and monitoring it very closely. All attendees will be notified of any updates.
But most importantly, at this time, we should support one another in the community and will still be able to come together and hear the inspiring stories of others - even if it will be digitally!
