LDC x Elsa Tierney: Wax Carving Jewellery Workshop
Saturday 5th October // @ 11 - 1PM
65 Great Portland Street, W1W 7LW
Are you a jewellery lover, but can't ever find that piece that you're really looking for? Or are you simply just looking for a fun activity to enjoy with your friends?
This October, Lone Design Club is getting inspired by the Frieze Art Fair, taking place just around the corner, in Fitzrovia. Working with a long term LDC designer, Elsa is sharing her wisdom on all things bling. Wax carving is an ancient technique for producing jewellery in wax and then casting in metal. It is an easy way to create your designs which will then be cast into the metal of your choice (silver, brass or gold).
This class will guide you to create a personal and completely original piece, under the guidance of Elsa Tierney, artist and expert wax carver/jeweller you will be learning techniques in texturing, cutting & shaping your wax into a piece of jewellery (ring or pendent) which you can then have cast into metal.
When you've finished Elsa will cast & polish your piece & this will then be delivered right to your door!
The perfect gift for a friend, an experience to share, or finally get that piece you've been looking for all your life!
What to expect:
11am: Arrive + meet Elsa
11.15am: Introduction to the workshop
11.30am: Get creative!
Refreshments will be served throughout
The price of the workshop does not include the cost of casting, polishing, metal price & p&p. An additional £65 will be charged for these services. (Please note this price does not apply to casting in gold, a quote for gold can be given when the finished wax is ready).
ABOUT ELSA TIERNEY
Elsa Tierney is a professional jeweller with at least 15 years jewellery making experience & 5 years teaching. Trained as a jeweller & graduating in Fine Art, Elsa is inspired by the arts & the artists of the 1930's, Art Deco design & ancient artifacts found in museums. Coming from a creative family, Elsa has been familiar with her artistic inspirations from a very early age, surrounded by art books at home & visiting museums and galleries with her mother who is a painter. Her love for jewellery however started whilst rummaging through her aunt's very modernist collection of jewellery which she would enthusiastically refer to as 'Treasure'.
