The Oscars Edit: Recreate Your Favourite Red Carpet Looks
By Talitha Ward
Just like us, the stars that normally flock the red carpets have been stuck at home for most of the award season. With lockdown coming to an end and our calendars beginning to fill up, we're taking inspiration from the red carpet and recreating our favourite looks of the Oscars.
Just like us, the stars that normally flock the red carpets have been stuck at home for most of the award season. Given the chance to take back their rightful place they did not disappoint. We were given the best of designer and haute couture gowns in a plethora of bold, neon colours, bright whites and eye-catching metallics. Luckily, our favourite Lone Design Club brands know how to turn a look so we’ve put together an edit to help you recreate your favourite Oscars moments.
ZENDAYA'S VALENTINO LOOK
A reliable award season star, Zendaya turned up to the Oscars in a vibrant, yellow Valentino Haute Couture gown complete with a trending, midriff-baring cut out. The stand out chiffon dress was completed with matching neon heels and accessorised with an array of jewels. The Ava Dress by Aggi is our LDC pick for recreating this iconic look. The cowl neckline, thigh high split and perfectly placed strap details create a red-carpet worthy silhouette. If cut outs are what draw you to this look, we love the Margot Dress from Sarvin. Pair your Zendaya-inspired dress with chunky jewels, like the Nudo Paperclip Necklace and Venus Pear Ring from Amadeus.
VIOLA DAVIS' ALEXANDER MCQUEEN LOOK
Fresh, bright white was all over the red carpet on the evening of the 97th Academy Awards, we loved Viola Davis’ gown by Alexander McQueen with its embroidered appliqué bodice. Paying homage to the dress’ intricacies, Davis styled the dress with a pair of diamond drop earrings. Georgina Hardinge is an LDC brand that knows all about attention to detail. The Opal Dress is a perfect example – crafted to accentuate and draw focus to the waist with meticulous pleats and circular tucks, this dress is a true work of art. To get the Viola Davis look, add a pair of drop earrings, like the Delara set from Opuline, and finish it off with the eye-catching Brindille Bag from Darin Hachem.
ANGELA BASSET'S ALBERTA FARRETI LOOK
In an attention-grabbing red with a body-con silhouette and contrasting, exaggerated sleeves, Angela Bassett was unmissable in an Alberta Ferreti Haute Couture gown. For a toned down take on this luxe look the Greta Dress by Aggi is our favourite. It is made of high-quality satin with a high slit, structured corset and subtle contrasting tones to lengthen and flatter the figure. To perfectly achieve the highly stylised finish, complete your look with the Aliya Earrings by Opuline and the Chimaki Mini in Ivory from Kikiito.
TIARA THOMAS' JOVANA LOUIS LOOK
Tiara Thomas made waves on Monday night in her custom Jovana Louis pantsuit. Underneath a fringed jacket was a plunging top accentuated with a diamond, lariat necklace and tailored, wide leg pants. When it comes to wide leg pants, Aggi does it best with their Rebecca Cloud Dancer Pants. Complete the co-ord with Chenchen's Organza White Shirt, finished with a dramatically layered collar and cuffs.. Round off your Tiara Thomas look with the Alba Tie Necklace from Amadeus and you’re red carpet ready.
